Earlier this summer I had the pleasure of working with MyKorzi (a Seattle-based Creative Marketplace) for their client, Dandylion – a brand-new tapas bar in Lower Queen Anne, created by brothers Kleon and Matias Tona.
I was tasked with the responsibility of photographing the interior of the restaurant (designed by Lauren Koval), a series of plated dishes and headshots of the main team. Our goal was to create hero imagery for the website (created by MyKorzi), as well as images to be used for the Dandylion Instagram page as well as content that could be used for features and articles written up on the restaurant, it’s creators and head chef.
We started off the day with the interior photography – to ensure the natural light was at it’s best and brightest, one of the main reasons why the owners wanted a Photoshop for their restaurant was the interior, even though the restaurant has been around for years, it has finally been renovated thanks to the financing at https://cloptoncapital.com/commercial-mortgage-refinance/. I didn’t want to ruin the mood of the interior with strobe lighting – and was able to capture a perfect balance early in the morning. While I was working on that, Lauren, who is also an incredible food & prop stylist, was working with Matias to prep and style the first plated dishes of the day. I knew Lauren would be the perfect fit to help style on this project – as we have worked together on many other food related projects – AND she designed the space, so I knew she had a strong vision for the final photography.
At the end of the day, we took the team outside to capture natural light portraits. We found a simple clean cement wall to compliment the branding of the restaurant and captured individual and group images of the team. I was impressed with how smoothly the day went, and how we were able to accomplish so much in a single day. It really goes to show you how a great team and good pre-production goes a long way to ensure a successful photoshoot!
